As of today I am the very happy owner of an HP Mini 311 (thanks Mom!). I admit, I used to scoff at the idea of a teensy little “wannabe” laptop, and I scoffed even more at the prospect of a computer without an optical drive (I believe this scoffing came about after the debut of Macbook Air), but after hauling around my behemoth 17″ notebook, I’ve come to appreciate the fact that computers are available in small packages.

So, the specs of the HP Mini 311:

First impressions? Gorgeous. And small. But gorgeous. Of course, I think it would look better if the chassis and keypad were white like the lid (since that is how my dv7 is designed), but I guess I can’t have everything.

So far I’ve only reformatted it and installed Microsoft Security Essentials, so I’ll definitely need to use it more in order to come back with a full-fledged review!
